Melanie
O’Neill

Melanie graduated with an LLB Honours Degree in 1991 and commenced work in Auckland at Rudd, Watts and Stone (now Minter Ellison Rudd Watts). In 1992 she moved to Hamilton and commenced work with Tompkins Wake, one of the larger Hamilton firms, in their litigation department.

From 1992 to 1995, in addition to working fulltime, Melanie undertook a Master’s Degree in Commercial law with the University of Auckland, graduating with honours in 1995.

Melanie became a partner of Tompkins Wake in 1998.

In 2000 Melanie left the partnership of Tompkins Wake to go to the independent bar and has practiced as a barrister since then in the areas of family and employment law.

Melanie is regularly engaged as a mediator for all types of disputes. She has been conducting mediations since 2002.
